ASCENZA presents an innovative solution for the biotechnology control of Prays in Southern Europe.

ASCENZA is thrilled to unveil its groundbreaking mating disruption pheromone, designed to revolutionize pest management in olive and lemon crops.
This innovative product, now launched in Portugal, is expected to be available in Spain, Italy and Greece by 2026. Its aim is to empower growers with an effective and sustainable method for pest control, guaranteeing high yields and higher quality crops.
Under the trademark Miringo® Prays, this method of mating disruption effectively controls successive generations of the olive and lemon moth (Prays oleae and Prays citri). Disruption by mating confusion provides a long-term and precise control of pests, while being safe for farmers and highly selective for beneficials.
This innovative technology will take growers to the next level of pest control and environmental sustainability, adding value and quality to their productions, in crops where pest control tools are scarce.
The solution now launched by ASCENZA comes in the form of a microporous plastic passive diffuser with a hermetic seal, adapted to the hard terrain conditions, with stable and constant emission throughout the campaign, remaining active for 6-7 months. The diffusers are equipped with an easy hanging system, which makes it easier to place them efficiently and quickly in the canopy.
The new product is the result of a strategic partnership between ASCENZA and AoMidori Biocontrol. Victor Notivol, Export Director at AoMidori Biocontrol, is enthusiastic about this collaboration: “We are delighted to announce this strategic partnership. It is a cooperation that will leverage our combined strengths, improve the customer experience and provide exceptional value to olive and lemon growers. Together, we are committed to reach new milestones and set new standards in the sector.”
Rui Correia, ASCENZA’s Central Marketing Director, shared his confidence in the product benefits: “Prays pheromone offers a sustainable approach to pest management, guaranteeing long-term efficacy and selectivity. Designed to revolutionize established agricultural practices, it has been proven to deliver excellent results, with a single application at the start of the season, thus offering peace of mind and security to farmers.”
ASCENZA highlights the product main benefits:
- Excellent pest control, guaranteeing high yields and top-quality crops.
- A single application at the beginning of the campaign, providing protection until the harvest.
- Easy hanging system in the field, making it convenient for operators.
- Controls the three generations of olive moth and successive generations of lemon moth, lowering population levels year by year, due to effective mating disruption.
- No need to coordinate spraying with flight peaks, simplifying pest management.
- Safe for operators and beneficials, thus promoting environmental sustainability.
Today, growers across the European Union face numerous challenges, including crop variations, pest pressures, unpredictable weather conditions and volatile market prices, which makes it essential to have a solution that combines a high level of control with a low environmental impact, while at the same time managing resistance by reducing populations.
